energy park

Location: Kwang-Ju, Korea
Area: 42,000 ㎡

The site has long been abandoned since its 2006 Expo event. This proposal is a competition entry to redesign the site to transform into a park with a theme of “Future Enrgy“ demonstrating  the use of innovative technologies affecting people’s perception of energy and green development.

To achieve its ambitious sustainability goals, the design integrated a series of renewable energy technologies throughout the site such as; solar boilers, photovoltaic (PV) panels, art work and water show.  Visitors flow into the site through solar tree canopies and wisteria trellis which is transformed from unused steel structure.  Existing concrete structure for foot bridge landing is covered with landform and equiped with slide, stair, and rampway. The rolling field is composed of series of undulating terrain, providing  a sense of interesting earth work for kids to play, roll and learn the sustainable energy concept.
